FOR I COME BEARING QUESTIONS
hey! questions for you. Hopefully we'll get to know each other better and have a good discussion. Apply your answers to fic or original work (or both; both is good.)
- What are you currently working on?
- Tell me about one cool thing in your story.
- What is the earliest idea this story is based on?
- Who is your most fascinating character?

I'm currently working (mostly) on my submission for the DeanCas PineFest (still...the draft is about 70% done)
I created a creature for it, and I'm kind of proud because the reader gets to discover the rules of the creature as the story progresses.
I was listening to "Colder Weather" by Zac Brown Band around Dec 2014 and decided I wanted Cas as a truck driver and Dean as a diner owner. Almost two years and a dozen plot bunnies later, everything has changed except for their professions.
If I did it correctly, my creature will be the most fascinating character, both by virtue of having to figure out his powers/limitations, and figuring out his past and personal relationships.
AAAA it's an AU but it's also a casefic?
It's not a casefic as in hunting, but there's definitely some mystery and past to uncover, plus a supernatural element.
But once I release it, if anyone wants to co-opt the creature and send some hunters after it, I'd love to read it. :D
The Trucker AU, aka Deadheads. Project Shithouse (original)
I love the magic in Project Shithouse - its about green magic, as opposed to black or white. The magical system is very earthy and psychedelic and God is a snake. Deadheads has a unique representation of love in that I hesitate to call it a "romance". Also, um, I think big rigs are cool.
Project Shithouse began as a an exploration into the collective unconscious. The Trucker AU was born on a late night sleeping at a truck stop - there's parallels between the world of hunters and the world of longhaulers to be drawn.
Ahh all of my ocs are fascinating to me - I love how they work together, pulling and pushing and subtly influencing. They affect each other more than they know - or want to. As for Deadheads - definitely Amelia. I had some issues working her in, but I found better ways and when she enters the story, she closes so many holes. Claire and Cas are unreliable witnesses, Amelia has clear eyes.
Umm I picked up Honeyed Apples again yesterday, so we'll go with that.
I think the coolest thing about the story is the ending, which I worked out with a friend of mine. The first half/three-quarters of the story are kind of light-hearted and porny, fairy-tale-esque but more irreverent, I guess? Then at the end, it's going to become more of a legit fairy tale: three tasks to complete, dragons and fairies and good vs evil, dire consequences, war on the horizon...! If I execute it the way I'm planning, it should play out so that there's not really an obvious turning point, but we'll see how it goes.
I wanted to try my hand at an A/B/O fic, and I wanted to write a royalty/arranged marriage fic, and then the two came together at some point, and the story sprang half-formed into my head. Unfortunately I don't get my arranged marriage trope because plot, but I get a bunch of other fun stuff.
Cas is probably the most interesting. I'm playing a lot with his mystery, to the point that I don't even know what all kinds of magic he can do. I do know his mysterious backstory, but I don't know when it'll be fully revealed yet. I really need to put together a solid outline for this fic, lol.
Writing Project Smoking Crater, drawing for Inktober, and planning Project Stoplight (a new and awful thing that will make people upset in delightful ways).
Project Smoking Crater is being written with scientific consultation from a real live astrophysicist. She's helping me make sure the physics makes sense, or at least is believable where it turns paranormal. (You knew that though.)
IIRC it all started with the idea of demons being gas-bodied aliens that come to Earth in a mass that Sam, an astrophysics student, discovers and that Dean, his estranged engineer brother, fights.
I think that really depends on your interests. Thus far I think the strange, magnetic hold Dean has on Sam from the moment he shows up, combined with the mystique of what he does for a living and what he's gotten himself into, make him pretty intriguing. On the other hand Sam's emotional tumult and desperate bids to maintain his agency make him compelling too IMO; and I haven't even gotten to the part with the angels yet.
are you really sure it's not an undead astrophysicist?
I mean, in the month of Hallowe'en, a lot is possible.
I'm working on my Supernatural AU Star Wars story :D
Motorcycle chase.
Specific to the story? Oscar Isaac in leather jackets --> Hunter!Poe. But an idea I've used that goes back even further, to around s9 or so? Is an hypothetical angel who didn't want to go back to heaven when Hannah was on her "join us or die" mission, and who got along well with/maybe didn't completely suppress the person they were possessing. So if they wanted to stay on earth, and chose to "fall" like Anna but were already possessing a human... could they remove their own grace and survive? (In this hypothetical, the angel and the human sharing the vessel merge into one identity with two pasts, which sounds an awful lot like a Steven Universe ripoff but I swear I had the idea before I even watched any of that.)
Finn, I think. He's complicated, and frustrating.
Planning for NaNo. I'm writing HP fic this year, because SPN has been really hard for me lately. I needed something easy. Totally flashing back to 2012, HP was three fandoms ago for me.
One cool thing? Draco Malfoy is a vampire. I can't think of anything cooler than that ;)
The seed of this story is actually a plot bunny I was working on in 2012. It's changed a lot, but the basic premise is the same.
My most fascinating character from this story, or of all time? Draco from this one, definitely. Of all time? A Welsh vampire from an OF I wrote in 2009. He's still my fave. Obviously I'm into vampires :D
1) Literally, Nothing Lasts Forever. Season 4 of Dust in the Wind, my hellatus coda series.
2) Doesn't everyone want an episode tag or coda for every single episode of SPN?
3) Early Hellatus Rewatch 2014 (I was rewatching again in preparation for watching Season 10 in real time. My first.) I did the math on when Adam was conceived vs. what was happening in the flashbacks in Something Wicked. And damn near lost my shit.
4) Cas is the hardest to write, but is also probably the most interesting. Maybe the one chapter we get from Jimmy's POV.
