I love my world or setting because...

I love the Project Smoking Crater world because it's everything I used to love about Supernatural with a science fiction twist. Whether or not there's any actual paranormal element to the demons or angels is arguable, and I don't intend to answer that question for the reader.

I love the Project Stoplight setting for its characters, above all else; I have some lingering interest in WWII and the Cold War, so there's that, plus an interest in the history of LGBT people in America. This story allows me to explore all of those.

I feel proud of Penetska. We've built a world that takes inspiration from the places I love the most - Seattle and the Cascades - and from the hostile wilderness of Alaska. I'm pulling from Russian Cathedrals to 30s New York speakeasies to create a unique city that hopefully feels like it was carved out of an ocean cliff face and built by immigrants.

One of the worldbuilding things I'm most excited about is the integration of Salish mythology. Penetska is a colonized country that shoved their Natives aside just like Americans did, and I'm hoping to respectfully represent Salish people and branch out from the medieval Europe fantasy tropes.

Project Shithouse: It's sorta the world I grew up in with an extra dose of magical realism. A multicultural, semirural community where there's still curanderas and folk magic around if you know where to look - so yeah, that's pretty much it. Even Casey's house is inspired on childhood memories of the old witch houses I knew as a kid. Now in the story Casey develops his own system of folk magic that grows organically out of his setting, so he has very strong connections to it.

Deadheads: I don't know why I've never seen a longhauler!AU before - it's a perfect non-supernatural analogue to the Winchester family history. The story is centered in those in-between places. Bus stations and truck stops and gas stations and odd motels. It's an element of the canon setting I've always loved.
