A place to discuss and post about the original Star Trek series!
Star Trek: the Voyage Home thought
I watched the movie for the first time, and enjoyed every moment of that. It has a clever and humourous plot, every character having their moment to shine, and the emotional arc of Spock is so touching. I also like that Gillian Taylor is not sloted into the obligatory love interest role and has her own motive and life. Definitely worth a rewatch.
Some general thought:
- I love Jim's "Simple logic" line.
- I love how Spock calmly nerve pinch the punk, jump into the sink to meld with the whale and his use of the "colourful expressions"
- I really like how Scotty and McCoy take cover to infiltrate the company. Scotty's so devious. McCoy's shock to 20th century medicine is also very funny.
- It's so obvious that the catalyst for Spock to rediscover his feeling is Jim. Just look at his face when Jim jested how come he felt nothing.
- I love that there are female captains in the last judgment scene. There's definitely progress here.

It's definitely my absolute favourite out of all Trek movies! It never fails to cheer me up :)
Agreed. What a delightful movie.
Regarding that last point, I still remember seeing this movie in the theater and there were cheers when the captain of the Saratoga appeared on screen. It also featured the first Asian captain I believe, in the clip from the USS Yorktown discussing their solar sail effort.
Yeah, it's really awesome
I love this movie, it's probably the trek flick with the most rewatch value for me. Glad to see you enjoyed it :)
Yeah, me too.
