Howdy!
How is everyone's September going thus far? Who has been able to scrounge enough free time to write?
I've got writing assignments up the wazzo. Mainly, it seems that in the foreseeable future I'll be working on a lot of short stories. So many! I've been trying to do a little bit of research on this topic, reading old favorites and looking at structuring different types of short form narrative. I will try and post some snippets if I happen on of good advice. Personally, I think that short stories are a great way to develop and inform larger works.
I'm also reading a lot, when I can.
(Isn't it addicting?)
Recently I reread The MaddAdam Trilogy; and picked up the books Every Heart a Doorway and High Fidelity. How about you guys?
Also, would anyone be interesting in helping me admin this group? Message me if you would be up for it.

I set a goal of 10,000 words in my novel for September and I'm about halfway done. Unfortunately I've only been able to write on weekends, since work has been crazy busy and I'm too tired at the end of the day.
I just finished reading Devil and the Bluebird by Jennifer Mason-Black, a fun magic realism read. Now I'm reading an old sci-fi series, the Celta books by Robin Owens. A little outdated (the romance is a bit eye-roll worthy at times...) but I love the worldbuilding, a mix of Celtic folklore and futuristic sci-fi.
Good luck with your short stories! I don't have any advice there, since I'm terrible at keeping things short.
