A place where beautiful people gather to talk about how beautiful they are.
Question for the Masses
How long should righteous indignation over poor service at a restaurant stop you from eating there if you really like their food?

Exactly zero seconds. My uncle once got Shigella at a place he liked, which disease you can only get from consuming human feces, and he still goes there. They literally served him human poop and almost killed him and he is still a regular patron of this restaurant.
Given this information - I'm not sure I should use your uncle as a gauge . . . .
Is this the uncle you're vacationing with all the time????
Yes. And we were halfway into our meal at said place before he casually offered, "this is where I got Shigella."
This explains a lot.
There's a restaurant I love love love here in utah that, well, I love it. But, their service sucks. I mean, waiting an hour with only 5 other customers midday for some artichoke dip, sucks. With four hungry kids, I can't wait that long in public. I haven't been there in a few years.
I would inform management, since there is a possibility that they might not know that is happening. If it's that bad, stop eating there. I had to stop eating at my favorite restaurant because they were bad about cross contamination and I kept having allergic reactions to my food. ;
The problem is - it was a manager that gave us bad service. The restaurant in question did not include an item with our pick-up order. This restaurant also delivers. When I called them about the missing item and asked them to deliver it - they refused. I am less than three miles away and they have a 10-mile delivery radius. This happened a year and a half ago and I haven't been back but (so far as I know) the food is safe - just bad service.
Oh. I'm very sorry to hear that! Since that's the case, I think you're right in not purchasing food from there.
What I like to do in those situations is discourage OTHERS from going there, but then still eat there myself. That way you punish the restaurant but you still get the awesome food. WIN/WIN!
I DID discourage others from going. The food is too good - no one would listen to me . . .
STOP PUNISHING YOURSELF! It's time to give up the grudge and return to the land of paradise where the food is so good your friends won't even boycott with you. You never know, maybe that manager was fired a year and a half ago. Or maybe the manager's toenails fell off and hair fell out in clumps or something equally hideous that no more bad thought in that direction are needed because Karma. Also, Good On You! for your sticktoitiveness.
