Home robot Kuri is like an Amazon Echo designed by Pixar

Domestic robots are sort of here, with self-driving and speakers that control your smart home, but Mayfield Robotics' Kuri could be the first real home robot, combining mobility and true interaction with approachable, friendly design.

I gotta be honest, I sorta want one. It looks adorable.

oooh! Just because we can't have an office pet doesn't mean we can't have an office robot! Max didn't put that in the rules!

Totally want one - I remember seeing another company doing something similar awhile ago that didn't move. Either way $699 is pretty pricey but I'll be stoked to see this come out and more like it to drive the prices down

I love this. Reminds me of Wall-E or a mini Baymax lol

I love my Alexa, but let's be honest...It's a talking Pringles can. This looks cool.

haha yeah. looking forward to see how its shaping up by next fall, when hopefully they'll have more than just cute little teaser videos.

I'm curious what exactly you love about Alexa? I really don't know a ton about it and am genuinely curious.

Today there are more features than there were yesterday, tomorrow there will be more than today. You can create a smart house with it, it links to thermostats and lights and a bunch of stuff I can't look up right at the moment. It streams music and audiobooks. It sets timers and links with your calendar. Dish just announced a coming soon feature where it will link with your DVR and you can change channels with a voice command.

Also, the devs have a sense of humor. Try asking Alexa for "tea, Earl Grey, hot" or to fire phasers.

I particularly like using it to check the weather, not just at my location, but wherever I ask, and as a quick check for measurements/conversions, like how many ounces in a liter.
