There's no doubt that as revenue for major networks slips, the best opportunity to quickly increase the bottom line is to jam more commercials into each broadcast. According to Nielsen, the average time per hour long episode of TV that is filled with commercials is increasing with each passing year, and in fact, some shows are being sped up ever-so-slightly just to shove an extra ad or two in there.

Netflix for the win!
This was one of the reasons we ditched cable and went with Netflix. My kids still see adds on youtube but it may just be time to buy the add free version of youtube and be rid of the commercials all together.
I think cable is going to become obsolete in the next decade or so.
Probably not. I wish it wasn't the case but I see cable staying around much like aol. There is a group of people that are comfortable with it and will not want to change.
I guess that's true. I always underestimate how many people just like doing things "the old way."
