Fire Emblem: Fates - Inadvertent Story Closure
Well, now...this was a bit of serendipity, as far as storytelling goes!
So, two of my ninjas, Kazo and Saizo, are brothers. There had been some interaction between the two of them where Kazo expressed concern that Saizo was becoming obsessed with revenge over their father's death. Now, no details were given. All that was said, was basically:
Kazo: "Brother, I worry about you."
Saizo: "I appreciate the concern, but I'm fine."
So, fast forward a few battles as I push the main story forward. We're passing through what we think is neutral territory only to find out that the local leader has decided to side with Nohr, the enemy, in this instance. He steps forward and explains that, yeah..normally, they're neutral, but they'd like to expand their territory and this is a golden opportunity to do just that.
Okay. Fine. Fighting ensues.
Eventually, we fight our way through ninjas and giant AOE traps to the faction leader. My character and her husband attack, bringing the faction leader down to a sliver of health. Now, it just so happens that Saizo was nearby, so I moved him over to make the kill.
Lo and behold, a whole conversation takes place. It turns out this asshole was the one who killed Saizo and Kazo's father. So, there's a long conversation between the two where the leader taunts him over his father's death and then Saizo lands the killing blow.
How about that? If I had not had Saizo in my party or had not used him for that final attack, I wonder if we ever would've figured out who killed his father? I wonder how that's changed any future interactions with Kazo?
It's pretty neat!

This kind of thing leads people to play their games via GameFaqs.
See, and I don't get that. It takes all the fun out of things if you know ahead of time how something like this will play out.
Knowing this doesn't net you anything. You don't get bonuses. There's no equipment or experience rewards. You just get a bit of the story. And, why even bother doing it, in-game, if you have already read the FAQ and know what will happen?
That's why I put all of this behind spoilers. If people want to read it, that's cool (because I love talking about this stuff!) But, I don't want to accidentally take away that "Oh, neat!" moment when it happens to them.
