Forge - Newest Update
Okay, yes. I will admit that, yesterday, on Twitter, I was getting pretty negative about Forge. They had removed the ability to delete clips (again) which I found utterly annoying. I had reached a point where I was getting incredibly fed up with all the pivots and changes. (Honestly, it's like they change the damn program every other day! I don't think they understand how upsetting this is for users.)
Anyway, I cranked it up tonight out of curiosity since I had received a notice that feedback I had participated in had been completed. Lo and behold, this is what I find:
An explore window with global chat! This is something that a lot of folks had been asking for. It brings back the feeling of community. You get to browse the newest clips and talk to people.
Also, it looks like public commenting has been brought back for individual clips. You can now add captions (again) and delete the clips (again.)
Now, don't get me wrong. I'm fully aware of Forge's track record. But this is a HUGE step in the right direction. I just...I don't want them to fuck this up. I'm excited to use the service again and I want to believe that this won't get yanked out from under me. (Again. Gawdammit. I'm like Charlie Brown with that stupid football...)
Just please, Forge...please...keep this format. Add more stuff if you want. But don't take any of this away!

raise glass Here's hoping that they keep this format so we can get the rest of our friends to use the service again lol. cheers
No kidding!
I think the biggest thing that has hurt them, though, are the constant changes. Even if they make something that is nice, people don't trust Forge, anymore. (At least, those of us who have been around a long time don't.)
The changes come frequently, with no announcements about what to expect, no indication of what direction they are headed, or...anything. This does not breed a sense of loyalty among users. In fact, it does the opposite.
