FreeCell Quest

FreeCell Quest

FreeCell Quest is an RPG FreeCell game. You've never played FreeCell like this before! When an archmage takes control of the entire continent of Selvarin, the world's most powerful wizards try and fail to defeat him in battle. You are a young wizard, a master of cards, and you may have what it takes to outwit him.

I picked up FreeCell Quest, last night, and am having a great time with it! Now, it's just a variant of solitaire, so there's nothing that is going to make you jump out of your seat with excitement. However, I'm really enjoying this particular style of play.

This is a RPG/solitaire hybrid. During each game, you will be attacked by an advesary. This happens via a flashing card buried somewhere on the board. In order to stop the attack, you have to uncover that card. If you don't, you take HP damage. But, of course, in good RPG fashion, that can be countered by health potions that you can buy at various locations.

You also have armor and weapons to equip that give you various boosts. You also have spells that will let you manipulate the board. For instance, I just leaned a spell that will let me pull a card further up a column. It has a hefty mana cost, so I can't do it too many times. Other spells I have are light healing and a "undo" spell that lets me back up my moves.

Oh! And, I forgot to mention that there are classes. When you first start out, you will choose a class. As you would expect, each class has a special ability. I am playing an archer, which makes incoming attacks a certain percentage slower. (I'm sure that's meant to reflect the archer's speed. But, since you can't make the player faster, in this case, they made the enemy slower.)

It's on sale for $2.50 on Steam until mid-day, tomorrow. It's well worth that small amount!
