Mystic Destinies: Serendipity of Aeons, Shinji's Route
I finished up all of Shinji's route in MDSOA, today. Now, I have to admit that this route did not grab me the way the others did, at first. That is mainly because the MC annoyed me so much!
You see, this story revolves around the fact that Shinji is, actually, a member of the fae court. Only, he doesn't know this. There a whole bunch of fae political hoo-haa going on where he was stolen as a child and hidden away, using a glamour to make him appear human and limit his natural fae abilities so that he seemed as nothing more than a mage.

Now, why is this a problem for the MC? Well, they end up meeting Shinji's mom and she's super-duper nice and warm and awesome. And, of course, the MC is all "Oh, look how wonderful your real mom is! She cares for you, unlike my mom, who created me so she could dump her curse on me."
The thing is, Shinji doesn't trust his biological mother. And, the MC just can't grok why he wouldn't. Why wouldn't you want this fantastic mom? How could you possibly not want to give her a chance? But...but...but...
She spends almost the entire story projecting her own desires and fears revolving around her mother onto Shinji. And, she was so blinded by her own feelings that she completely missed all of the glaringly obvious signs that Shinji's biological mom was the bad guy. (Hellllooo, court politics!)
Who gave the MC the flower that cursed her? Shinji's mom.
Isn't it weird how the "bad guys" always went into defensive mode and never attacked when assaulted?
Gosh, who would stand to gain the most if Shinji took his rightful place on the throne? Hrrrrmmm...let me think. Oh, yeah! His biological mom!
I really did hate the MC through most of this route. However, things finally came to a head when the MC couldn't keep her mouth shut and told Shinji that he was being unfair. To which, Shinji basically told her that she was projecting and she needed to step back and take a good look at things. After that, she got better. She came to understand what she had been doing and the story became good.
Up until that point, though, I wanted to strangle her.
