Started Firewatch. Soon after: Finished Firewatch.

I know I'm about a year late on this game. It was on sale on Steam, though, and after finishing Steins;Gate, I was looking forward to another story experience. I've heard a lot of good things about Firewatch.
Your name is Henry. You're drunk when you meet Julia at a bar, but before long, you're dating, you get married, start thinking about kids, and... she gets sick. It's not the kind of sick you get better from. She has early onset Alzheimer's, and soon both your lives are hell. Her family offers to take her off your hands; for some reason you agree, and then take an opportunity to watch for fires in the Wyoming wilderness for the summer as you try and figure out what you're going to do with your life.
It takes two days to hike to your fire tower.
What should have been a quiet summer of writing and contemplation turns into something quite different. Mysteries abound. Your summer off from life might turn into something a lot more permanent. What is going on down there, in the canyon, anyway?
Your only companion is the voice of your supervisor and fellow fire watcher, Delilah, who shows you the ropes and is your disembodied confidante throughout all that happens.
In the end, it was a memorable three or so hours that I played. The scenery is gorgeous; I kinda thought that I'd find the island paradise of The Witness just around the next bend. The urgency of the plot, though, makes it hard to take any time to just look around (the game now includes a "free roam" option so that you can go back and do just that). The game is quite linear, and you are rushed through it, urged to go to this place and look at this thing, then the next and so on.
An enjoyable experience, but I doubt it will stick with me long.

Firewatch was my first experience with this kind of game. I liked it and would probably enjoy more of this kind of thing if the price was right. Like you I got it on sale.

Nah, it was fine. Got up, had a piece of Wonder bread, then went back to bed.

It's a good game - but definitely a sale buy. I bought Abzu on the sale as well as I knew it would only take a few hours to finish.
Not heard of Abzu... what sort of game is it?
I don't even know what the genre would be for it - it's basically a chilled out casual fairly linear exploration game. It's very similar to Journey if you've tried that?
Loved Journey! I'll check it out.
Watched a no commentary play-through on youtube, wow short game for the price, and uhhh that ending....
