Trove hits consoles
Hey @Arislyn you gonna come play Trove on PS4 with me? I took it for a very brief spin last night and it felt pretty good in terms of controls and such. I never played much Trove on the PC because I was always impatient about "What the heck am I supposed to do?" but I'm generally more chill on the consoles so I'm going to putter around.
They have some early bird starter pack for $5 (it's optional of course) and if you buy anything from the store during beta you get some kind of Epic Dragon mount that are, I've been told, expensive in either real cash, or in the amount of time you'd need to spending grinding, regularly. So I might throw them $5 just to get that dragon.

Absolutely! I downloaded it, last night, but didn't actually play. I'll link my account, tonight, and pop in for some fun.
I don't have a headset for the PS4, though, so any gaming will be silent. And, I don't have a keyboard, either. Yeesh. I need to get one or the other of those before I try to play with people!
I WILL ALSO DOWNLOAD IT BECAUSE
I don't have a PS4, but this is interesting. Is it cross platform, or do PS4 folks have their own isolated servers?
Each platform has it's own servers. It's rare to find cross-platform console stuff mostly I think because of politics (and to a lesser degree due to controls being different and how that might impact fairness; eg a mouse and keyboard PC user playing against a controller-only console user).
Microsoft-published stuff does Xbox One/PC shared servers sometimes, I think, and there have been rare other exceptions but for the most part each platform stands alone. Sometimes they'll let you clone your characters; for instance Zenimax let you do a 1-time clone of your PC Elder Scrolls Online characters to console when the console version launched, but that's about the most you can hope for.
In this case it's a complete fresh start. No transfers and no shared servers.
Thanks for the info! I was curious how it worked.
And FFXIV on PS4 and PC!
Yeah how'd I forget that one?! I even played it once upon a time, until I accepted that most of the game is gated behind group content. Psshh... group content in an MMO... that's all kinds of crazy! :)

It plays really well! and linking an existing Trion account gets you a cotton candy unicorn ally pet!
I still need to do that! My son was trying it, this evening, on my account as a guest. I need to set him up with a subaccount so he can do all the internet stuff. I've just been lazy and haven't felt like jumping through the hoops to do it.
I didn't get on until 11:30 and here is it 12:30 am and work in the morning. I'm just doing the little "how to play" quests. My next goal is to go find some Formicite Ore to build a forge. Just before I was going to quit some big-arsed robot-ish looking creature came strolling into my Cornerstone spoiling for a fight. I won, barely, and it dropped a level 20 purple item, but I'm too low level to use it. Gear I have now is level 13 and 14, green and blue. I'm assuming purple is better.
Seems fun so far though. I dunno I'd sit around and play it for hours and hours but I can see myself dropping in for a while here and there.
I think you'll find the Formicite once you get into the Elite zone (Mastery level 6). That's a much different zone than others because there're several different "biomes" encircling the initial warp zone.
I mention it only because that's where I left off last night and found some different construction materials in those other biomes.
Also, I noticed one of my recipes at the Adventuring table needed some parts from something called a B'qulthulu or similar. I figured it was a boss, but later while I was at my house breaking down items, one of those B'qulthulu things started rampaging through my front yard, so I got an eye and a tentacle!
My daughter and I used to play Trove on the PC a while back, and while it's fun when it's new, we got burnt out quickly.
