Garlic Rice
Tired of dull, plain, white rice? Try this twist on it! Check it out, @nicholasdiak
Ingredients
- 1-2 tsp Olive Oil
- 2 or 3 cloves of Garlic, minced (depending on size of cloves and how much you like garlic)
- 1/8 C onion, finely chopped
- 3/4 C long grain white rice
- 1 1/2 C water
- Salt and Pepper to taste
Directions
- In a 3 quart saucepan, heat the olive oil on medium until hot enough to sautée.
- Add the garlic and and onion and sautée, stirring occasionally, about 2 minutes, until fragrant.
- Add the rice and give it a quick stir to coat the rice in oil.
- Add the 1 1/2 cups of water.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, stir, and cover.
- Cook about 12-14 minutes, or until the water has been absorbed and the rice is tender but not mushy.
- Fluff with a fork, and remove from heat.
- Season with salt and pepper, then serve immediately.

This reminds me that I need to post my Hainanese chicken rice recipe.
This sounds amazing - love garlic and I love onion - this I can definately do!
Maybe give it a shot this week?
Let us know how it turns out?
I always take pictures of my cooking if it turns out well - I'll post something! This looks nummers! And a little different - I am used to using my rice cooker - I just toss jasmine rice into it, with a star anise and cardamon pods, so to do rice this way sounds more fun and hands on.
I usually use a rice cooker too.
Sounds great
