Munchhausen syndrome by proxy

In Munchausen syndrome by proxy, an adult caregiver makes a child or elderly person appear mentally or physically ill or impaired by either fabricating symptoms or actually causing harm to the child or elderly person to gain the attention of medical providers and others.
To perpetuate the medical relationship, the caregiver systematically misrepresents symptoms, fabricates signs, manipulates laboratory tests, or even purposely harms the child (e.g. by poisoning, suffocation, infection, physical injury).
Studies have shown a mortality rate of between 6% and 10% of MSbP victims, making it perhaps the most lethal form of abuse.

As a child my mother believed one of my friend's mother had this. Something would always happen when I was at her house. I would get sick or get hurt. I don't remember most of it, but I wasn't allowed over to her house anymore. Her name was Natalie. And she herself looked sickly. I felt bad for her, she was always by herself, didn't socialize very well. Idk. Random story, sorry.
No worries 😊 Your story is welcome 👍 I'm feeling kinda bad for your friend too now. It's a horrible mental disorder in which an individual has to suffer from it that is not only innocent but also dependant from the one with this disorder. The children just can't help themselves.
Yeah, I also wonder how hard it is to prove because it's basically abuse masking itself as care.
I moved away a year later so I don't know what happened to Natalie. I remember thinking she was very very skinny and her hair was thin and her skin kind of looked translucent like I could see a lot of her veins. She looked like an old lady. It could have been something else entirely, but my mother didn't take any chances.
