I like this entry, though I feel like it requires expansion. The noun originally referred to female canines, as with any word that develops a vulgar sense, the literal senses are driven out in favour of the impolite ones. Vulgarity can also expel unrelated words, one example being this due to its phonological proximity.

I almost feel as if a book could be dedicated to this term, though it’s unusual to find any word that deserves as much.
