Bagginshield Fic Idea
A quick Hobbit story premise I considered while going to sleep one night.
Written down so I don’t forget!
Erebor never fell AU.
Branded a thief and a murderer following the death of his mother, Bilbo Baggins has no choice but to face his punishment. His eyes are bound so he cannot look upon the world, and he is forbidden to speak. A collar rests around his throat, its inner ring tight against his skin: a constant reminder of the threat of death that hangs around him.
Yet it is not standard execution that haunts his footsteps. In recompense for his crimes, he is forced to be the food taster for the Lord of the town in which he was captured. Imprisoned in a constant teetering cycle of poison and antidote, with every mouthful of food potentially his last, things couldn’t get much worse.
And then, one day, his master journeys to Erebor. The mountain survived a dragon attack years ago, and has thrived ever since. Perhaps he can’t see the wonders around him, but he can hear the happiness and chatter of the Dwarves, and one voice carries over them all, deep and compelling.
Thorin, son of King Thrain, suspects there is more to the hobbit’s story than meets the eye. Steadily, he grows closer to Bilbo, who has far more to recommend him that first impressions might suggest, and with each day, he grows convinced that Bilbo cannot be guilty of the crimes of which he is accused.
(Probably based vaguely on poison study which I read once about a decade ago. Definitely some key concepts are sneaking in!)

I kinda adore this. I love a bit dark and the angst potential! But then I read anything you write anyway. :)

Nods It's definitely darker than my usual fare. I'm hoping it'll grow into something more fully fledged, but we'll have to wait and see. (And don't worry, I'll be sure to tag it right so you can decide if it's for you or not <3)

It does =D Every negative aspect would be handled with care - and consequences would be considered. Also a happy ending, because I live for happy endings!
