Orange - episode 5 (Spoilers!)

Orange episode 5 – Spoilers!

First off: I’ve never read the manga, so I don’t know what’s going to happen, please don’t spoil me!

Okay, it’s been a little while since I watched the first four episodes of this (I had RL stuff get in the way), so it took me a sec to remember everyone’s names, but once I did, my reaction was basically Suwa!!!

So, interesting things: the whole time travel discussion – I didn’t expect this. When the teacher first made that remark I thought it was a one off wink to the audience, but then they go into that whole lesson. (Another thought I had, is the teacher secretly a time traveler himself, lol?)

Anyway, you can’t change the past, huh? Evil foreshadowing? Is Naho’s quest to save Kakeru doomed from that start? Does her future self know and if so, does she just want to make a few more memories with him? Or is there going to be a parallel world?

Kakeru’s last text was to Naho… so sad. (But yay for everyone getting them to date!) Pretty poignant that Kakeru wants to go to the past, not surprising though, after his mother’s death. He would jump at the chance to try what Naho is currently attempting.

This episode broke my heart (pretty much like every other episode of Orange, to be honest), this time because of Suwa, aka the greatest human being who ever lived! He’s so sweet! (Lol, at the Kakeru/Suwa “I might be falling for him too. Get in line, Kakeru!)

Hagita casually outing Suwa was pretty funny and I loved Suwa’s little fanclub.

Not so happy with evil!Senpai and her girlgang, what was that even supposed to be? I don’t really feel like this anime needs a romantic rival/scorned ex, there’s enough going on. If she continues to show up, I hope she'll get some developement beyond that.

And with that, there’s nothing left to say but YURIKO!! YURIKO!! YURIKO!! (seriously that singer! Poor Yuriko, whoever she is.)

Some simple Japanese sentences from the episode:

この日から一週間カケルは学校を休む。 このひからいっしゅうかんカケルはがっこうをやすむ。 Kono hi kara isshuukan Kakeru wa gakkou wo yasumu. From this day on Kakeru will stay home from school for a week.

今日一緒に帰れる。 Kyou issho ni kaereru. Can we walk home together today? (Technically, this isn't a proper question - 今日一緒に帰れるか。- Kakeru basically just says We can walk home together today. dropping the ka. His tone of voice makes it a question.

みんなで帰ろう。 Minna de kaerou. Let's all walk home together.

今日だめ用事ある。 Kyou dame youji aru. I can't today, I have something to do.

If you see any mistakes, let me know.
