'Alien' Signal Had Earthly Cause, Russian Scientists Say
Sorry, ET fans: The mysterious signal detected by a Russian radio telescope last year probably had an Earthly cause. This past weekend, reports emerged that, in May 2015, a team of astronomers using Russia's huge RATAN-600 telescope had spotted an intriguing radio signal coming from the vicinity of the star HD 164595, which lies about 94 light-years from Earth.
Don't give up hope though, life may still exists, but we just haven't found it yet. If you think about how long we've been transmitting radio waves and how massive our galaxy, let along our universe it then it's reassuring in our search for life. Our radio waves have only reached a small portion of the universe so it's possible that there's life out there that hasn't heard the noise we've been making so that they could reply.
