We're already seeing Drones being used increasingly in warfare and it's interesting to get further insight into the scene of military tech. Drone warfare has caused controversy as it does put a barrier between the operator and combat making it seem (to some) more like a simulation than actually killing someone. This is where Explainable AI could help with that in some ways, as rather than just having machines run algorithms and giving you an answer, you get why that answer was formed. This could give the operator a greater chance to catch any oversights. Hopefully these technological improvements also reduce collateral damage.
