It's a set of standards for both phones and headsets that are designed to deliver a comfortable, inviting and mobile virtual reality experience. The View is just the first headset to launch for the platform, and for now the only phone that is Daydream-ready is Google's Pixel.

I really want to get one of these, I just wish more phones were Daydream capable ATM.

I don't just want one - I'd really like to learn about the media content development for it, so I can toy with augmenting arts projects with the device. I've been watching the VR-AR reports with interest for a while now! But there is little info on the technical requirements for developing media out there. :(
Well that's part of the reason I want one, lol. I've been messing around in Unity to determine the feasibility of some of my ideas.
No way! You have to share your progress! I would love to see how you use it.
Once I start making something concrete I will. Right now I'm exploring just making people move, importing 3D models I make, making materials and such.
Cool. I am interested in extending storytelling models with AR options. I think it offers a fun possibility of breaking the so-called fourth wall in fiction, but I really need some concrete examples and technical scope before playing around with ideas. :/
So yeah, that's one option I'm exploring. Another is talk shows in VR. For story telling, I'm working on a couple stories and I'm playing around with a couple different ways to make the stories come alive. I think VR and AR have massive potential but they need people to investigate new ways to use them in addition to converting our traditional games to VR and AR.
Absolutely! But we need this stuff to be readily available to all kinds of consumers before playful invention breaks open the possibilities.
Definitely! Here's a scene from my VR talk show thingy. well not a scene but a part of the scene.
