Berliner Morgenpost: Your last album was media reports according to rather moderate success. Are you under pressure?

Bill Kaulitz: When you make your first album, you're totally innocent. Nobody has expectations, there is no pressure. We wanted to go back to the song writing this time, because you get a completely different approach to your own creativity. We are in the luxurious situation that we still have a very solid fan base. So we had a great tour year 2015. We can be very relaxed.

Tom Kaulitz: And we'll keep making albums. No matter if there is one thing, what sells worse. This is always a matter of opinion. The last record has made gold and almost everywhere the # 1 on iTunes reached and apart from albums we always make music. An album is only a summary of this time. There is no alternative for us. We can not do anything else either.

Success in the sense of popularity is probably no longer particularly desirable for you today.

Bill Kaulitz: For us it was never around famous. If we do not have a record, we are not seen in talkshows or on red carpets. We like to make this whole circus with us, but we are concerned about the appearance and the music. I found it problematic, as it was more about us than people than the music. This was extremely extreme in Germany. That's why we went off to Los Angeles and did not do anything for four years. This was the only solution for us. Now we can enjoy different performances again. For a while we were only on the road and completely isolated from normal life and ordinary people.

Georg Listing: We were together in this bubble, but Gustav and me were a bit more relaxed. We did not have to flee abroad.

Gustav, you became a father last year. Do not you ask the band? Would you like to go back to the bubble?

Gustav Schäfer: You will definitely be more relaxed. I do not break my head today. And I have limited my alcohol consumption a little (laughs).

Bill Kaulitz: I think the balance is more important to us all, now that we are a bit older. We used to come from school and have made music afterwards. There was nothing else. We had no social contacts outside the band. It's different today. Gustav is Papa and married, Georg has his life with his girlfriend, everyone makes his thing. We like to jump into the bubble and go on tour, because we know we are coming out again.

Friendships often change when people become parents. What did it do with the dynamics in your band?

Tom Kaulitz: That's true, but I think that is more extreme in women. I also had this fear, but so far everything has remained as it was. If you are such a girl clique and suddenly get two children, then is not everything "Sex and the City". Then sit at home and breastfeed. We still have "Sex and the City" (laughs).

How is the family planning with the others of you?

Tom Kaulitz: Bill and I do not have such a life plan.

Bill Kaulitz: I sometimes feel like 100. Then I think I've seen and experienced everything. Then I wish I had an experience that shook and changed everything. Another time I feel like twelve and I am frightened by this idea. Then I think I can not marry and have children. But I have not experienced such a relationship as Gustav has. Of course this changes everything. Maybe for me life just meant something different.

For your tour you have been rehearsing mainly in Berlin since December. What do you associate with the city?

Bill Kaulitz: Berlin is for us the German counterpart to LA It is insanely international. People from all over the world come to Berlin because there is such a great freedom there. The nightlife is great, I love the Berghain. It is for me the best nightlife in the world.

Can you move more freely here than in the rest of Germany?

Bill Kaulitz: Yes, Berlin is the most relaxed for us. In Magdeburg I would never run on the street. In Berlin this is already times.

Ever thought of moving to Berlin?

Bill Kaulitz: I do not think we will ever be permanently settled in Berlin. But Tom and I have been thinking about getting a second home here. The city inspires us very much, so we spend very happy time here.

How does it feel to be back in Germany for so long?

Tom Kaulitz: That's like the whole career. We can now enjoy it quite differently because we can get away again afterwards. When we stayed here, it was like a prison. I've found everything just shit. Now I like to come here.

Bill Kaulitz: We can miss Germany again. And it's always a bit of a holiday. When we say we're flying home, we mean Los Angeles.

And where do you still live together?

Bill Kaulitz: Exactly. Always. We have a male house. But Tom is mega-neat.

Tom Kaulitz: That is also because we are so rare at home. We eat three times a day in the restaurant. The fridge is empty, there is only alcohol in it. Then you do not need to wash the dishwasher.

In not too long, you'll all be 30. Is there any thought?

Bill Kaulitz: I used to think, I will not be that old. But I do not mind getting older. I would never want to turn back the time.

Georg Listing: I would like to become very old. So relaxed 200 when I'm healthy of course.

And what has still to be done? Build a house, plant a tree, bear a son?

Bill Kaulitz: I want to get married. Sometime. And I want to have a club of my own, the hottest in Europe. And a model.
