All things Tolkien. Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, The Silmarillion, The History of Middle-earth, the elvish languages, etc
Who's your favorite Tolkien artist?
or: belatedly giving credit to the artists whose work adorns this community.
The banner is by Noah Bradley, an incredibly talented artist who does a lot of gaming related art for things like Magic: The Gathering and (the temporarily deceased) Legend of the Five Rings. This is his only (to my knowledge) piece of Lord of the Rings art, depicting Gondolin.
The avatar is by my personal favorite Tolkien artist, Donato Giancola. Not only is his work just beautiful, he's also depicted an amazing number and range of scenes.
This is one of his latest pieces: ‘Beren and Luthien in the Court of Thingol and Melian’

There's obviously a lot of amazing Tolkien art out there... what's your favorite?

Ted Nasmith is very well known among Tolkien fans, and I love his work. He is on a Song of Ice and Fire kick at the moment because of its popularity, but I love that he has done everything from the Silmarillion to the Return of the King and more!
Wow, that is beautiful!! I love it! Thank you for sharing. I'd never heard of him before.
I occasionally browse the Tolkien gallery on DeviantArt. It's really cool to see so many different depictions and imaginings of the same story.
This art of the last stand by ncorva is pretty cool:
