Shippuuden Episode 480: Sasuke-Sakura

I thought I'd make an episode discussion post, just in case anyone wants to discuss it. This week's episode was called Sasuke-Sakura and it was structurally (and in terms of style and quality) the same as last week's. Scenes from the characters' respective childhoods, pre-canon.

To be honest, this week was a little boring for me. I've never been a Sasuke fan, so it might just be that, but I also felt that they weren't doing anything beyond retreading ground we already covered a million times. I'd been hoping for Sasuke post-massacre but pre-canon, perhaps even directly post massacre? That would have been interesting to me. What we got was Sasuke and Itachi (and their parents) basically having a normal couple of days. So there's baby Sasuke with his giant crush on his big brother (I don't know if it's me, but kid!Sasuke's voice sounded super weird to me) and not much else.

Sakura's part was equally disappointing. I'd hoped for something adressing her parents' decision to send their daughter to the ninja academy despite being civillians. Maybe even seeing Sakura pushing to go? But there was none of that and as we're probably used to by now from Naruto, we also had the glaring contrast between kid!Sasuke being all about training and getting stronger whereas kid!Sakura was worried about her big forehead and her crush. Didn't like that.

There was Ino (her haircut and outfit! Adorably tomboy-ish), though and she and Sakura were adorable together (I ship it). But we all know how that ends :/

Also, Sakura's dad is super weird.
