Discussion: What's the First Game You Remember Finishing?
Discussion topic to get people talking to each other: what is the first game you remember finishing? Was it worth it? Why did you finish that one? Have you played it since?
The first game I ever finished was Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland. I think the gameplay just kind of clicked for me and the satisfaction of finishing it helped me to get the confidence to go back and finish other games that I had played but not yet beaten.
Tell me about yours!

Dragon Warrior IV for NES? maybe it was 1? I got it free with something. In any case I kept the NES on for weeeeeeks, since I could only play about 15 mintues at a time. ;)
Astynax for NES, Tomb Raider was the first for PSX, I was never one for being able to finish many games but I blame the game and it's ability to hold my attention now if I don't finish the campaign for whatever reason. Certainly not that my steam q is over 300...
Growing up I didn't play a lot of games that were finishable - I mainly played stuff like Rollercoaster Tycoon, the Sims, Civilization, etc. that didn't really have a definitive end point. So the first game that I finished completely is fairly recent - Red Dead Redemption.
I finished RDR about a year after it was released. I had played it off and on from December of 2010 to April of 2011. I didn't get very far in it, as I mainly just rode around. When I came home from college for the summer, I played RDR non-stop after work. I spent hours playing it, finishing quests, hunting for random animals, and just taking in the scenery. I was drawn into the story and when I finished it I felt so overwhelmed that I had finished something like this. For some reason "finishing" a video game seemed impossible, so to finish one on that scale was a big deal for me. It's a great game and I would highly recommend it to anyone. I'm hoping to replay it once I get my PS3 out of storage.
My first game ever beaten was Faxanadu for the NES. It was this incredibly grindy action RPG that I was determined to beat. Frankly I didn't enjoy the game much even when I first played it. Usually when I played games as a kid I would never get invested so I wouldn't beat them. I think I just wanted to have one game I could say I actually finished so I went all in.
Recently I went back and played it a bit and it did not hold up for me unsurprisingly. I was barely interested back then looking at it now its just so boring and has way too much grind. I'm still bewildered I chose that over something more entertaining but well I'm glad I finished it.
Pokemon Silver, also the first game I ever played
Well, before I got a dedicated game console I never really finished a game as such. In the very early 2000s our family had very old windows 95 computer that played a few DOS games like Wolfenstein 3D and SimCity 2000. We also had Half-Life and Quake 2, but it was a while before I stopped being scared and creeped out while playing those games (I'm still a scaredy cat about certain things). I remember trying to install Half-Life, not being prepared for the sound test that played the alarm sound you hear in the game and jumping about halfway across the room.
I got a Gameboy Color for my birthday at one point, and the games I played on it (mostly Pokemon Gold & Silver and a Power Rangers game) were the first ones I really played to completion. I also finished a bunch of Playstation 2 games, mostly WWII shooters and Ratchet & Clank. I used to love Medal of Honor and Call of Duty; although nowadays I find them pretty bland & repetitive. It's really amazing how "WWII Western front" was basically the early 2000s equivalent of the "Modern Military Shooter" aesthetic that was very popular up to a few years ago. These days I've been playing a lot of shooters from the 90s. I tried out some MMO shooters like Planetside 2, but apart from TF2 none of them really "clicked" for me. I don't know if I can recapture the magic of being 14 and playing Call of Duty 3 anymore :P It's probably for the best - those games weren't very interesting or edifying in the first place.
Pretty sure it was Castlevania II for the NES. Probably in 1989 or so. I remember playing it at a friend's house and thinking "first game I ever beat!" Back when counting the number was actually practical. :p
