In the Operating Room During Gender Reassignment Surgery

In the Operating Room During Gender Reassignment Surgery

Before August 30, 2016, getting stitches at age seven was the most time Emmie Smith had ever spent in a hospital. That morning, she swapped her plaid shirt and jean shorts for a gown, tucked her hair into a cap, and prepared for surgery to conform her anatomy to the gender she already identified with: woman.

I've been thinking about this since watching it yesterday. It's amazing and makes me cry that she's so happy. she not only feels good about it but has a great support structure. Makes me want to meet her, at least follow online if she does such a thing after being so public about all this. The comments on the post were the drivel and Christ popping I was expecting. I imagine she'd want to insulate her self a bit.

I wish I was so courageous, just got me thinking about my family. I can't put something this heavy on them just for me to feel right.
