A safe place for trans individuals to talk to each other about anything.
Kinda nervous here.
On the 8th, I've got an appointment to discuss possibly beginning to transition medically.
I am so, so excited about this! (Though not so much about the inevitable insurance kerfuffles.) But, as you might expect, I am also rather nervous, and this is naturally becoming more and more prominent the closer we get to go time. So, with that...two things.
1: What are some of you guys' favorite ways to relax? Personally I like hot tea, bubble baths and a good book, but I'd like to get some insight on other possible techniques.
2: May I have some good-luck wishes for this life-changing event?
aaaaaa so exciiiiiited

GOOD LUCK! :) <3 It is indeed very exciting and I am pleased for you!
Thank you so much! <3

Thank you so much! <3
Ooh, that's so exciting!! I hope it all goes well!
It probably doesn't come as a surprise if I say that I like crafting things to relax or distract myself. It makes me focus on the thing I'm making and then I get to show it off (or give it to someone, I love giving gifts). Repetitive stuff like colouring books or knitting also relax me but if my thoughts are already racing, these things don't distract me enough.
I also like cooking, especially if I already know the recipe - it smells nice and it distracts me. And then there is great food. Oh, and music has a huge impact on how I feel - if I'm nervous I'll start with fast, exciting songs and choose progressively calmer ones.
Thank you! <3
Oh yes, crafting is wonderful! I also have a fair few coloring books, I really should get them out and use them...
I should also make cookies. It's cookie season. *nods*
I relax by either video games, laying back and listening to some music, reading, or going to a movie.
I feel I will be doing a lot of gaming till Tuesday. :D
Good luck to you, but I just want to remind you that if you get any kind of rejection from your doctor you do not need to keep going to them. Tell them to fuck off and find a different provider. Also you can always have someone else come with you if you are nervous.
I've been pretty lucky in the medical stakes, actually! My GP is very supportive (she's got other trans patients) and I'm going to a clinic specifically for LGBTQ people for this consultation. For as backwater as where I live actually is, there's some very accessible stuff in the cities around me!
My parents will be going with - it's a three hour trip and I don't drive yet. :)
