Women's Wealth Growing Faster Than Men's
More of the world's riches are now in women's hands. Women now control $39.6 trillion, or about 30% of the world's wealth - up from 25% held five years ago, according to research released Tuesday by the Boston Consulting Group. The total assets under management held by female investors worldwide grew 8% annualized over the past five years, on average.

This reflects my life and the lives of most of my friends. I was going to say "especially the Millennials," but actually, I'm not sure that's even true.

This is just anecdotal, so take it for what it's worth, but this doesn't surprise me at all because I'm the breadwinner in my relationship and that's not seen as an unusual thing anymore in my social circle. It might have been a few years ago, but right now, it seems pretty common for the women in my friends groups to be out-earning the men. I'm not sure why, but the women just seem to be more driven and have more of a desire to pay their own way. The guys, on the other hand, seem more interested in quality of life and not stressing themselves out too much.
Again, totally anecdotal and hard to say what's actually happening with these bigger-picture numbers. They jive with my experiences, though.
Most of the guys I know get high often and play a lot of video games. It's like they've given up trying. Sad, really.
Most of the women I know work really hard. It's an alarming contrast to the men.
I wonder why that is? It doesn't make sense to me... but then, I'm not a man and can't speak to the male experience.
Most men do not think far ahead.
I don't know why that is. Maybe because that enabled our ancestors to survive in the wild?
Maybe. It seems like it must be generational, though. My dad is great at thinking far ahead, as is my partner's dad. So were both my grandpas, the only great-grandpa I ever met, and most of my uncles. That's just one family, but it does seem like there are different attitudes in this generation of men.
Yes, there's something about this generation of men.
Maybe videogames and smartphones are scrambling our brains.
This is good. At what point will that 30% grow to 50%?
I wonder if the people in /personalfinance would like this article.
I guess we'll find out. I just shared it over there. Thanks for the suggestion!
You're very welcome. I like what you're sharing, Ella.
Thanks! I'm glad. :)
Me too. :)
