I never really liked girls or women's clothing, I dress very neutrally - jeans and a shirt or jumper. I had to wear either a tunic or a dress every school day from the age of 5 to 18. I can't express how much I hated it. HATED IT. It felt like putting on someone else's skin, it felt like every day, having to pretend to be something I am not.
Whilst this distress and discomfort has got absolutely nothing on the distress it must cause a trans person - and I really don't want to downplay that - enforcement of shitty gender norms can also be challenging for cis women too.
