Otometique

Is anybody else familiar with the otometique branch of vintage shoujo manga? This post offers a good explanation of what this term means (and really, the whole blog is one of my favorites in the manga fandom; it introduced me to Tokimeki Tonight, among other things), but I haven't read anything by authors like Mutsu A-Ko or Tabuchi Yumiko myself, even though I really like their style - at least judging by some color scans available here and there. So... anything? Thoughts? Useful links? \o/

Ah, I'd seen that word used before, and I always wondered what it meant. Although, it was in a non-manga context.
I also like this post on the blog: http://brickme.tumblr.com/post/105761459728/how-popular-were-the-year-24-group-anyway-or
Yes, I really like it as well, thanks for the reminder!
Omigosh, I love that art style!
Me too! I'm seriously thinking about buying some of these unless they're out of print or something.
A lot of the vintage colouring books have similar styles. Soooo cute and pretty.
Brickme is an amazing blog ♥ A pity hoshinohitomi deleted her blog, the original post about the three movements of 70s shoujo was very informative, too.
As for the subgenre itself, well, I like the art and atmosphere of the colored illustrations, but I'm not particularly curious about the works. It's cute, but this kind of story isn't really my cup of tea - I prefer my Ikeda melodramas and my Takemiya angsty boys, thank you!
Hmm, I believe hoshinohitomi is still available? Though perhaps it doesn't have the post in question any longer... I know what you mean about Ikeda and Takemiya though, they're delicious indeed.
You're right, I found the blog but not the post. However, I found na excerpt at Goggle books that explains the movements a little: https://books.google.com.br/books?id=j1LLCQAAQBAJ&pg=PA27&lpg=PA27&dq=otometic%20manga&source=bl&ots=NOe4L19Sbv&sig=wFwgesQZ3T6em-C319_G50a8q18&hl=pt-BR&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiPiqXG_pPPAhUDHpAKHYzOB1EQ6AEINDAD#v%3Donepage%26q%3Dotometic%20manga%26f%3Dfalse
(sorry for the huge-ass link)
Lovely, thank you so much for the link!
