Pidge
Believe me, I'm not trying to bring The Discourse over from Tumblr, because ew, but I thought it would be interesting to know your headcanons for Pidge's gender, just to get a little discussion going?
I personally see them as nonbinary with they/them/their pronouns. For some reason I don't feel super-comfortable using she/her pronouns. Also, it's really fuzzy, but in the comics there's a bit of dialogue that could indicated Coran and his alien acquaintance using they/them/their pronouns for Pidge, which would be cool (they're most likely referring to the team as a whole, but it would still be cute).
I don't want to fight, just have a chat about it. I like the idea of Pidge as a girl, but I like the idea of them as nonbinary even more.

For me personally, I can see Pidge as nonbinary, but I really see her/them as a trans girl. A few fans who are trans girls have talked about Pidge being transfeminine-coded and it's a headcanon I like a lot :0
To be honest, I'm happy with any sort of non-cis headcanon. ^^ I can see them as a trans girl.
My reading from the show was that the reason Pidge disguised as a boy was to get access to things in the academy. She had already gotten caught looking like a girl, and so took advantage of relative androgyny to get another crack at it.
So her motivation was external, a need to hide in plain sight, rather than an internal gender/presentation alignment issue that would have happened without those circumstances.
@Rialla is right that she does identify herself as a girl. But I can see the attraction for headcanoning her to something rarer.
shrugs Pidge states, twice, that 'I'm a girl'... so I tend to go with the gender the character directly stated(and actually is the only character to state their gender in the show). In this case, female.
If you wish to headcanon Pidge they/them, by all means do so, I'm not going to stop you^^ When I read the comic I thought Coran and the alien were speaking about the Paladins in general rather than Pidge in particular. Granted, I might have misread it.
I'm simply explaining why I consider Pidge to be female nothing more and nothing less ^_^(either born female and decided to pull a Mulan, or transitioned to female and decided to pull a Mulan)
I do know there's nothing to really support being nonbinary in canon, it's just a personal preference of mine. And I don't usually have many trans headcanons.
As I said, I have no intent of stopping you from headcanoning Pidge as you choose. I was just explaining my reasons for viewing Pidge as female (either cis or trans) as opposed to non-binary.
However, it likely came across as short, for which I apologize. (I'm in a lot of pain and did not phrase my reply well)
Yeah, this is how I see it as well-- "I'm a girl" is fairly explicit. That said, I could get behind a genderqueer interpretation of some kind, and have zero issues with people writing her as something else-- exploring is what fic is for.
I kind of see Pidge as being gender-agnostic: doesn't care enough to have preferred pronouns, probably agender if she really sat down and thought about it but doesn't really have the inclination to.
She's a soft butch ace trans lesbian and the most interesting and useful character in the show. <3
I believe they're ace, that's for sure.
I wouldn't put them above any other character, there's no need for that. I have my favourites, but I love everyone.
I pretty much read Pidge as anything, I don't really have a set headcanon for her as such. I've written her as a cis!girl (although it's not immediately obvious since it's from Shiro's POV) but I could see her as nonbinary, trans girl or trans boy. I've read all three and enjoyed them all. It may be the one thing I don't have strong headcanons for :D
