Fairly Recent Angel the series drabbles
I wrote several more Angel drabbles recently for /100words. As is typical of my output, most of these are Cordelia-centric gen pieces or Angel/Cordy. I did actually write a bit of Darla and Dru (with possible femslashy subtext) this time as well.
"The Woman and the Manpire": Angel/Cordy humor drabble set during that infamous "manpire" scene in 3.07 (Offspring).
"I Don't Want to Close My Eyes": Fluffy, silly Angel/Cordy established relationship drabble. It definitely diverges from canon, probably at some point during season 3.
"Isn't it a Shame, Shame Baby, a Shame, Shame": Cordelia-centric gen piece set during 2.18 (Belonging) about her having to deal with the awful casting director for the sun tan commerical.
"Could We Fix You If You Broke?": Cordelia POV piece about the scene where Angel fires the gang with possible slight hints of Angel/Cordy.
"She Should Have Known": Cordelia POV drabble about what happens to her in season 4, with references to 3.11 (Birthday) and 3.22 (Tomorrow). For those who find this particular arc squicky, I don't explicitly describe what Jasmine does while she is possessing Cordelia. Angel/Cordelia is mentioned.
"She Lives in a Daydream; I Don't Belong: Angsty Angel POV drabble set during 3.14 (Couplet), Angel/Cordy.
"It Doesn't Mean Anything, Really": Cordelia POV drabble during early season 3, set before 3.11 (Birthday). My attempt at explaining Cordy's perspective on the Angel/Cordy subtext of early season 3.
For something a little bit different...
"Take a Bite of My Bad Girl": Darla POV drabble during the scene in 2.10 (Reunion) when she's shopping with Drusilla. Possible femslashy Darla/Drusilla vibes.

I always thought that scene of Cordy's experience "acting" was one of the most interesting statements the show ever made. It was one of the few insider references to show business from the performer side (although there were some more made through Lorne's character) and particularly pointed. Yet given its placement in the series I always thought it was a deliberate statement made so as to offset the fact that CC spent two episodes in a gold coin bikini.
It rather reminded me of how they had Fred and Cordy looking at fashion magazines and commenting on how emaciated the models were while having Fred's character eat all the time and excuse her thinness with the fact that she'd spent years scavenging for food in a demon dimension. Yet oddly enough, she never gained weight...
I agree that the timing of the commentary on the sun tan commercial is interesting because Cordy's experience in that commercial showed how actresses can be over-sexualized in the industry, and then CC spent two episodes in an outfit that did seem to be purely for fan service. I hadn't thought of the fashion magazine thing before because I just kind of forgot that moment when other stuff happened in the episode, but you make a good point there as well.
I'm glad that you put a spotlight on that moment in your drabble because we so rarely saw Cordelia being both emotionally and physically vulnerable -- although interestingly enough her appearance was always her weak point and that incident played right into that.
