Blast from the Past - 17th February

2008: Everything seemed to be going wrong for my family over this weekend. My brother found he had a flat tyre on his bike when he needed to get to work first thing on Saturday so I gave him a lift in my car.

Then when my mum and I were doing our weekly shop at Tesco, she grabbed a box of tissues of a shelf and then when she dropped it in the trolley her back went in to spasms and she could barely walk for the rest of the trip. She couldn't get into the car when we were done shopping so had to shuffle home (luckily it wasn't too far).

Our evening plans and Sunday plans were then scuppered as not even the really strong painkillers she had were enough and then on Sunday morning I was woken up by her yelling from her room that she couldn't get herself out of bed.

2010: I was looking forward to seeing Derren Brown live on stage for a second time, the first time was in Worthing in 2003 when he was just 10 dates in to his first UK tour, not long after he initially appeared on TV!

The day before I'd been to see The Wolfman at the cinema, the journey there was a bit hairy though due to bad rain, large puddles/mini floods and hardly any parking! I enjoyed the movie though!

2011: I was enjoying a day off work, using up a few remaining annual leave days by having a few short weeks in a row - it was busy at work and lots of changes were happening so spending less time there was a relief!

I had created that spreadsheet I mentioned within 2 hours and management were all very impressed!

One of our senior managers had gone to a routine hospital appointment and had a heart attack on his way there, he was 60 but also very fit and also a super-approachable guy who I found it easy to chat to about work issues even though he wasn't my direct manager.

He'd had an operation and was recovering well but would be off for at least a month.
