How to stop hate-watching your old favourite TV show
You find someone new and you can't get enough of them. They're the highlight of your week. You stick together, possibly for years. And then the magic fades away. Suddenly the things you used to find charming are just plain irritating. But you've been through so much together, can you honestly just walk away?
I only learnt this fairly recently - partly because I got a season or two behind on all the show I watch and it made me re-evaluate why I was even bothering watching them anymore.
I have since decided to drop Supernatural because 12 seasons is getting ridiculous, I also dropped The Big Bang Theory cos that stopped being funny a while ago, and also a couple of shows I used to watch with my mum in the past that are still going somehow!
If a show isn't enjoyable to you then stop torturing yourself and find something new!

I'm still on the SPN bandwagon, but I find that because of my tivo, if something becomes a drag, it just sort of naturally just never gets watched. And then I'm staring at a folder of like 10 episodes with no desire to open it.
And that's when it's probably time to admit that I really don't want to watch this thing anymore.
Yeah, that's a good sign you're done with it!
I love that they used the walking dead for this. I dropped that this season and forgot that it was even a thing, even though I started watching the show in the very beginning. Sometimes you just have to let things go. Though, I can't say with certainty that I won't get back into it!
I'm always surprised when I hear how long supernaturals been going. What a run!
I immediately thought "what a fitting picture" as well - The Walking Dead is the perfect example for all this! I haven't managed to stop hate-watching it yet but I'm slowly getting there. The show is not getting any better in any way and I know I should just let go.
Oh one show I hate-watched to the bitter end was Lost. I was about to drop it when they announced that they were going to just do 2 more seasons and it would have an end. I did kinda wish I'd gone with my initial instinct to drop it though :D
OMG SAME HERE with Lost. I watched it all the way through and then, the final episode made me regret it all even more. (Although I do enjoy re-watching the show these days, it IS one hell of a WTF ride.)
I've not been tempted in to a Lost rewatch, I think I was too glad it was over, but I bet you spot a lot more on a rewatch!
I got the show on DVD for a really cheap price and yes, you spot a LOT more on a slow re-watch. Most of it still doesn't make sense but at least SOME questions get answered. lol
I actually never got on the Walking Dead bandwagon, I watched the first season and kinda assumed that was all they were making and it wasn't until a while later that I heard it had another couple of seasons but I wasn't too bothered as I'd found it very stressful to watch!
Yeah considering Supernatural was nearly cancelled every season for at least the first 5, it's pretty much been given carte blanche ever since! I did learn that the original plan was for 5 seasons, and it really does show, so I just pretend it ended there now :D
I totally lost all heart with Supernatural when Charlie died. I kept watching for a little while but then there was an episode where Cas was getting tortured and Sam and Dean were having emotional issues and not dealing with it and I was like wow, this show is going nowhere. -.- I'm waiting for something to happen that makes the fandom squee and makes me want to watch it again but... nope. Nothing yet.
Still ship Destiel hard though. :D
Yeah I think I got behind before Charlie died but hearing about that didn't make me want to pick it up again that's for sure!
Oh yeah Destiel is definitely my ship, the best Destiel related thing I ever came across is this song by Hayley Seal based on lines they each say to each other. I loved it so much I tracked down all the scenes and made a video to go with the song, here and a video without the music, here - if only this ship wasn't pure queerbaiting sigh
