Michael Moran Lawsuit Against NWHL Continuing
The lawsuit levied by initial investor Michael Moran against the NWHL and specifically its founder and commissioner, Dani Rylan, is continuing, a Massachusetts court decreed in December. The league has recently run into further financial issues and admitted to its players in late November that it could not pay them the amounts they had contracted for.

I'd wondered what was going in with this.

Reading the article, it's interesting that his entire hissy-fit (demand for triple repayment of his investment) is all b/c Rylan was telling other investors his share was smaller than the 40% that he had agreed to. Apparently this was too much of an insult and he demanded to be repaid his $200,000 investment, which Rylan agreed to, but then never did. Now he wants $600,000 back. He'll never get that triple amount, but Rylan is operating in bad faith here. If it's true that she never started paying him back, she better have good reasons why not (and not having the money isn't a sufficient reason for the court). According to the article, Rylan has attempted to dismiss the lawsuit b/c Moran didn't provide enough evidence to support his claims. Using such lawyer loop-holes in cases like these always make me think the other party is guilty but is trying to bend into a pretzel to get out of paying damages. Doesn't look good. I noticed she didn't comment in the article. I think that's a bad move. She should have re-stated what she said last season, that the lawsuit is unfounded and there has been a misunderstanding. All around, this is a big mess that the NW didn't need.
I think this is the reason salaries were cut. Hiring a lawyer is not cheap.
This is probably part of it. The NW has been having financial issues since the end of last season, though. I honestly thought with the lawsuit that the NW might not even start their second season
