NWHL Results and Standings - December 11, 2016

It was a great weekend for the Whale. They played 2 games this weekend and also had their season home-opener, proving that the Whale really do have a home rink (despite the persistent rumor that they were homeless...:) ). Maybe finally being on their home turf lit them up, or their opponents were tired from their wins last weekend, but the Whale easily took both games. Connecticut sent twice as many shots on goal as the Beauts and both teams had 6 PPs, but the Beauts were the only ones to convert a PP to a goal. The Whale stayed chippy during the second game, handing NY five PPs while only getting 1 PP. The PPs restricted the Whale's offensive abilities, keeping them to only 24 shots on goal, tying the Riveters. The wins catapulted the Whale from last place in the standings to second place, but all three teams remain locked in a heated battle for second place, with each team still only separated by 1 point. Boston had the weekend off due to half of their players being at US Nationals practice.
