That's 1.82 points per game. (301 points in 164 games.). Not bad!
Both points she got in Sunday's game were typical Ouellette efforts, hard work and always going to the net. She still is a leader in the effort department.
That's very, very impressive. I think just yesterday I saw a break-down of top NHL players this season, and Crosby is at 0.82 points per game. Of course, there are different factors that should be weighed before comparing the two players, but having 1.82 points per game is amazing. You can't get to that kind of average without what you call "Ouellette Efforts".
Poulin's output was 2 point something last season so that tells you how good she is. She is a magician with the puck, but I am not sure that even she possesses the same drive as Ouellette. By the way I have a Carolyne Ouellette story that I got from her father on the weekend. He told me that at 8 years old Caro (that's what everyone calls her) wanted to play for the Montreal Canadiens. So her mom and dad decided to let her pursue her dream knowing full well it would never be realized. But it was such an emotional moment for her and her parents for her to play a game on the Habs ice. There was a tear in his eye when he was telling me this. And really you could see it in Caro at the end of the game. She stayed on the ice until the last possible moment. Everyone had left the ice. She just skated around drinking in everything. She was looking at the crowd as they filed out and she looked up at the banners hang from the ceiling. I stood their watching her, hoping that this moment was everything she dreamed of.
What a wonderful moment for her! And I'm also so happy that her parents got to experience that moment with her.
