mute
Continuing the idiom thread:
<rant alert> The word "mute" means silent. Please note that it does not in any way refer to something that is irrelevant, nor does it apply to points in general. There is no such thing as a mute point!
Just stop it! Thank you.
Please see: moot http://www.dictionary.com/browse/moot?s=t.

For all intensive purposes, it's all mute anyway.
I just noticed the comparative forms too. You may be mute, but I'm way more muter than you.
Well I'm as mute as the sound of one hand clapping, and that's the mutest. :-p
I feel like mute and moot are even pronounced differently. Mute has a bit of a y sound.
Let's end this misuse of mute and be the change that we want to see in the world.
Haha. It always makes me grin when people make this mistake. Who can blame them? Moot just seems like it shouldn't be a real word.
And I mean, if the kids don't have Rick Springfield, how will they know? ☺
