Its our first fanfic!!!! :D
I really enjoyed reading this story.
Something about the metaphor of an empty house realy worked for me espacialy for Scott both in its organization and the significance of vast, empty feeling houses from his life (the orphanage, and even the X mansion can fitt that description in my mind).
And how self aware and almost unaffected Emma all the way really capture their relationship for me. As two strong and yet somehow broken people finding solace in each other its just right.
Anyway thous are my thoughts. what do you think?
Next week we are reading Thor vol.1 #364-#366 A.K.A. the Might Throg see you there ;)

I enjoyed this because it was fascinating to see an exploration of the structure of Cyclops' mind. It looks like a mess, like a house that's been put together with duct tape one, two, three too many times. This line, especially, is one that's always going to stay with me - "Does Scott know the extent to which his mind isn’t his own?"
I liked the sense of disjointedness in his mind, and also the descriptions of the parts he's reclaimed.
I'm not sure where I first encountered the concept of the memory palace, in X-Men or more generally, but it was put to excellent use here. All the broken furniture and damaged common household objects really served to convey the extent of Scott's brain damage and psychic abuse in a striking way that's easily understandable, and also (quite impressively) manages to heavily underscore Xavier's awfulness with a single line about the wallpaper.
The 'sorry for the mess' note was such a subtle heartbreak to read.
I really appreciated Emma's brief panic after encountering the Phoenix memories; often her character reads as jealous of the dead ex while ignoring the inevitable trauma of attempted murder by a cosmic force, so this was a great bit.
I do wonder where Scott was in all this. Would he just suddenly wear a small smile or have a panic attack out of the blue and have no clue why until he thought about it or what (telepathy is terrifying, y'all)?
Bonus points for alluding to butte sex.
A great ending line, too, but I wish the end of the last Uncanny series didn't make it quite so bittersweet.
