Important X-Men Ghost Box question!

  • questions

I bought the hardcover trade of Warren Ellis' Astonishing X-Men "Ghost Box" at HeroesCon last weekend.

Does it go on my X-Men shelf or my Warren Ellis shelf?

X-Men. Volumes of a serial work go with the rest of that work, regardless authorship.

It's good to be precise about these things

I knew you would have an answer. Thank you.

I like this post because I have my own comics organizing conundrums. Personally, I think you should file it away wherever it makes you happy. Also, I didn't like Ghost Box, so I don't like it contaminating my precious Whedon Astonishing X-Men trades, even though that's where it fits best.

I assume I will like it because Warren Ellis. My Warren Ellis section is much larger than my X-Men section. This is my first Astonishing volume. I've read the first volume of Whedon's run but don't own it. Most of my collection comes from the early years (when I read X-Men as a kid. Dark Phoenix through X-Factor era) or recent (I loved Bendis' recent run except wish it was twice as long) with a few random volumes peppered here and there.

      I'll happily take recommendations!

If you liked the Bendis run, I'd be pretty surprised if you didn't like the Whedon run, so I'd recommend getting the rest of that next.

Once you've read all of the Ellis run, if you like it, then I'd expect you to also like the Morrison run.

For me, all four of those runs were good, but Whedon was the best, then Ellis, then Morrison, then Bendis. But this is probably affected by the times in my life when I read them, and the order that I read them in.

Oh, and if you haven't read any of the Ellis run yet, I'd recommend starting at the beginning with Xenogenesis rather than with Ghost Box.

Thank you. I will dig up Xenogenesis first.

Oh wait, crap, I misremembered: Ghost Box is actually the first volume. Sorry!!

        Doh. Thanks for the update!

Just tear it in half. Done.
