I loved the Ms. Marvel issue - honestly, I'm loving nearly all the tie ins so much better than the actual event that I wish there wasn't a separate event comic - just all of Civil War playing out in the pages of these comics itself. The Captain Marvel issues put the whole event into a better light and more complexity than the main series does - they make the event feel like an issue that's WORTH having an event for.
Oh man -- Ms. Marvel 11. Just...wow. And ugh. And wow. And dammit. And wow. And cry.
Extraordinary was pretty good this time around. Loved Forge's approach to resisting Apocalypse.
Totally Awesome Hulk was pretty great. Nice characterization of Black Panther. Nice chat between Black Panther and a SHIELD agent. And I'm just liking how Amadeus as Hulk is going in general. Eager to see how he works out with the rest of the Champions.
Why didn't Ulysses see Engimo's dangerous plans in Squirrel Girl??!?
And Ultimates continues to be pretty damn entertaining month in and month out.
This week's pulls: Captain America: Sam Wilson #13, Captain America: Steve Rogers #5, Captain Kid #2, Merry Men #3, Ms. Marvel #11, Spider-Gwen #12, Spider Woman #11, Thunderbolts #5, Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #12, Wonder Woman #7, and everything Valiant
Pick of the week is Sam Wilson Cap. I really enjoyed the contrast between him and U.S. Agent. John Walker has never been a favourite character of mine but after his deceleration in the previous issue that he's in favour of Trump's wall, I was worried he might be caricature or a strawman for Sam to easily triumph over, but that wasn't the case. Spencer kept their disagreement as apolitical as possible considering the characters and the story being told. Their physical fight ended a bit abruptly once Sam was able to outsmart Walker, especially considering how badly he was losing to start with, but I suppose there's only so many pages in a issue.
Almost everything else was pretty good. Ms. Marvel would be my pick of the week if not for Sam Wilson Cap. Merry Men feels a bit bogged down by the relationship drama. The whole Steve Rogers is and always has been evil in Steve Rogers Cap feels like it isn't going anywhere because they're so intent on reminding us every issue that Steve Rogers is and always has been evil. The only book I didn't enjoy was Captain Kid; cool concept, but the execution is falling flat. I think I'll be dropping it from my pull list.
This week: DC Bombshells #62, Captain Marvel #9, X-Men '92 #7, Exlibrium #6, The Hellblazer #2, Wonder Woman #7, Saga #38
Captain Marvel took the week for me. Firstly because I've been wanting someone to call bullshit on the tired, insulting "mental illness makes you untrustworthy" crap for years, and secondly because it was Aurora, who's been a victim of that trope for decades, who got to do it. Very cathartic. Rough week for Carol, but it wasn't unearned, tbh.
X-Men '92... meh. It was OK, but the novelty of the cameo appearances has really worn thin. The book is still fun, but the lack of substance is really making itself felt.

I legit smiled so wide when I saw that. I also loved how creepy and depraved they made Lypse look.
That came SO close to being panel of the week.
