Man I loved Uncanny this week. It really felt like the X-Men I care about. Bunn has found a voice for this book where I don't think Lemire and Hopeless have
I should note that this week's video reviews are getting folded into next week's, on account of only one X-book and two very tired X-Perts.
Finally made it to my LCS on Friday, and had this week's Uncanny plus the newest issues of All-New X-Men, All-New Wolverine, and Extraordinary X-Men. I was talking to the shop owner, and wondering if the (in my view) very, very slow build going on in Extraordinary might pay off in the long run. It would be neat to see if it does, somehow.
Really enjoying All-New X-Men so far, and the characterizations in it. It's been solid from the get go.
All-New Wolverine is head and shoulders the best X-book going right now, in my view. I'm going to miss Lopez's art on this book. Taylor sticking around makes me thing this book is going to be very good for a long time.
HERE THERE BE SPOILERS, BE WARNED
I'm excited to see what happens with some of Laura's former foes starting to show up.

And with Uncanny - I'm liking Bunn's writing, even though this first arc seems like it's been a chess match against the Dark Riders, who thought they were playing checkers. Magneto's move of blowing up Genosha was unexpected, and it strikes me as being similar to Ship falling on the old X-Factor building - it signals the end of the old, and the move to new things. At least I hope so. I'm eager to continue re-acquainting myself with Monet, and liking what Bunn is doing with characters I'm more familiar with, at least so far.
I clicked here wanting to discuss my thoughts on the latest Uncanny X-Men before realizing I've already forgotten most of it. It was a very forgettable comic. I want to enjoy this comic but it sorta feels like great characters are sorta just being rolled around until something interesting happens to happen. I am sort of curious as to what's happening with Angel - it feels like big stuff keeps happening to him since the whole X-Force Dark Angel Saga thing - losing his memory, growing to be some sort of lifegiving actual angel thing, even his younger self's Black Vortex upgrade - but none of it's explored as much as I'd like. Although young Angel seems to be getting a bit more attention, which I'm liking.
So, uh, can we discuss the squick moment in "The Worst X-Men #2"? I was very much enjoying this series until this attempt at that weird Mystique-tries-to-seduce-a-minor-as-a-joke sequence. Even if she wasn't planning to carry through with it, it's just......ugh. That doesn't seem to be her thing. Blackmail, sure, but using sex as a weapon on a teenager?
