RESURREXION thread
New X-Men Comics Revealed for Marvel's ResurrXion - IGN
New comics for Iceman, Weapon X and more. This week Marvel Comics is announcing several ResurrXion-branded comics featuring the X-Men. With Death of X currently being published and Inhumans vs. X-Men hitting later this year, ResurrXion looks to be the next chapter for the X-Men after the dust of war has settled.
Will Jubilee appear in an ongoing team book again? Will Jean Grey and Wolverine come back from the dead? Which Iceman will be in the series -- or should it actually be both and be called ICEMANS? Share your wild, unsupported speculation here!
Also: there have been a lot of really, really terrible X-related wordplay names in the life of the X-Men, but "RESURREXION" has got to be the worst one yet, right?

The Generation X title has me hopeful we'll get a dedicated school/teen hijinks focused book in the tradition of Gen X, Young X-Men, Wolverine & The X-Men, All New X-Men, Etc.
It also has me really, really hoping for a return to Emma Frost in a Headmistress role. Many of Emma's best moments (villain and hero) have been when she was acting as a teacher, mentor, etc. I still cry foul to this day that she chose Scott's cause over being a teacher with Logan, but that's just me.
I'm really excited if it means A) OG Cyclops is back post death of X, and B) they fire Greg Land into the sun.
Greg Land has ruined too many x-books for me to be allowed near them again.
Iceman getting his own series makes me want to burst into tears, it gives me so many emotions. Has Marvel EVER had a solo book following a gay character before? I desperately want to believe they'll put an LGBT writer behind it, but I don't want to get my hopes up and have my little heart broken. I'm just so beyond happy that this book is really happening. This will be the first marvel book in years that I will pre-order/reserve/create a pull for etc.
And has Jean Grey NEVER had a solo series before!?!? That sounds crazy and long overdue. I think young Jean could make for a great book. The premise of having to live your life already knowing you're supposed to be some great den mother to your people / how crushing expectations of youth can be - sounds like it has massive potential.
post-2015 the two really terrible gaps from the list of x-men solo series were jean grey and emma frost, so this gets us halfway there!
with jean in particular i really, really want this to be the teen version and not bringing back the original, since she's far and away the most interesting of the five in terms of how her current personality bounces off the weight of expectations they ran into in the present.
I will die of joy and resurreX myself if Emma's next to get a solo book. She's already being teased as playing a major role in the X-Men moving forward, so I'm still biting my nails hoping Death of X doesn't kill her or make her a villain again.
After the latest episode of the podcast, I could go for an Emma solo series by Soule and Anka.
I'm interested in both Icemen: how young Bobby comes to terms with his sexuality and manages his relationship with his Inhuman boyfriend, and how the other Bobby deals with having come out while being older. I really hope the book will feature them both and that it will be written by a LGBT writer.
On Twitter, Oliver Sava suggested that team Mockingbird (Chelsea Cain & Kate Niemczyk) could do a great job on Jean Grey and... omg yes. I never really liked teen Jean but Chelsea Cain could definitely make me care for her, like she did with Bobbi (I'd also like to see Emma keep on teaching Jean how to use her powers).
For the moment I'm pretty indifferent to Weapon X, and since I haven't grown up reading Generation X (I just haven't read Generation X to be honest) I'll wait until we know who the creative teams are to have the beginning of an opinion.
My only hope is that it's not a complete retread of the 1990s.
Man, I can't think of a more disappointing 5th announcement than Cable. Not off the top of my head, anyway.
AANNNNDD then Marvel totally redeems themselves by announcing X-Men: Blue and X-Men: Gold on the same day. Tricky tricksters!
Seems like Blue, Gold, and GenX are all but confirmed to be replacing EXM, UXM, and ANXM. Hoping some of the creators of those books stay on the new team books - specifically Bunn, Hopeless, and Bagley.
I'm interested if this is a rebranding of the existing books that has some continuity in the creative teams, not so much if this is yet another bit where they cut off writers 12-18 issues into interesting runs to revamp their stable completely. Let the people work!
I also really hope all the nostalgia branding stuff doesn't mean bringing a bunch of dead people back again. Leave Jean, Young (?) Man Logan, elder Cyke, and Xavier dead, let us see what happens in the aftermath of that. (And maybe give some women and POC a chance to fill the two leadership poles now that the last two iterations are over? maybe?)
I don't imagine we'll see entire creative teams jettisoned left and right - but I'd also be OK with some new voices and styles being added to the current line. Hard to say which way this will turn out until more concrete details are released.
Absolutely agree both with letting the dead characters you listed remain dead (except I think elder Cyke isn't dead) and giving more prominent roles, voices, and representation to women and POC.
I'm cool with OG Cyke being alive if that's one of the things revealed in DoX, but I gotta say I was kind of enjoying seeing the original 5 all get knocked off one by one and letting the young versions be the defaults. (Except Iceman, I'm cool with two Icemans.)
I'm thrilled about all of this if it means the X-men get to actually live on Earth again and feel relevant. I love Wolverine and the All New X-men titles, but otherwise I'm not thrilled with much of anything else going on right now. The X-men don't live or seem to even fight on Earth anymore. I'm all for the occasional extra-dimensional trip, but defending a world that fears them might require them to occasionally hang out on said world.
Love the return to Blue and Gold if only because it's understandable branding. Iceman and Jean Grey getting their own titles is really interesting and exciting. Generation X is something I've wanted for a very long time.
Like others here, not excited about Cable. We'll see. Will wait and see on Weapon X. Also nervous about the fate of New X-men and Wolverine, as well as the creators on those titles. Nothing would make me happier than to see something like Dennis Hopeless in charge of gold, blue, or Generation X.
