Yaoi, aka Boy's Love - Japanese genre of fiction focusing on relationships between two male characters
Autumn 2016 Fall Season Anime
As we head into September, the Summer season of anime is drawing to a close, and new Fall anime will be starting soon. On the horizon specifically for fujoshi and fudanshi are two new series.
First up is "Gakuen Handsome." Based on the infamous BL parody game of the same name, it is a love story set in a private boy's school where all the characters are drawn to be representative of various BL tropes.
Joining the cast are fan favourite seiyuu such as Ryouhei Kimura (Kou Mukami in Diabolik Lovers, Kise Ryouta in Kuroko's Basketball), Tetsuya Kakihara (Jinpachi Toudou in Yowamushi Pedal, Simon in Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann) and Natsuki Hanae (Ken Kaneki in Tokyo Ghoul, Taichi Yagami in Digimon Adventure Tri).
Next we have "Kiss Him, Not Me!" aka "Watashi ga Motete Dousunda." Created by popular BL mangaka Junko, this shoujo manga-turned-anime is about Serinuma Kae who, after losing weight due to stress from the death of her favourite anime character, is suddenly found attractive by boys in her class. The problem? She's a fujoshi, and she'd rather have them falling in love with each other, not her!
Seiyuu cast includes Nobunaga Shimazaki (Haruka Nanase in Free!, Makoto Sunakawa in My Love Story!!) Yuuki Ono (Taiga Kagami in Kuroko's Basketball, Shou Tokugawa in Cheer Danshi) and Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Aki Kaidou in Super Lovers, Hajime Aoyagi in Yowamushi Pedal).
Soon to debut anime such as Yuri!!! on ICE and Touken Ranbu have already gained a following due to their attractive character designs and impressive animation.
As well as this, new seasons of shows such as AJIN, Chi's Sweet Home, Bungou Stray Dogs, Utapri, Haikyuu!! and Natsume Yuujinchou will be joining the lineup.
What will you be watching this season?

It's not yaoi (though there's definitely slashy potential) but I'm excited about getting more Natsume Yuujinchou! I love that the youkai have such a broad range (including the comedy duo of the bull-creature and the other one), and that Natume is kind-hearted but still a "real" teenage boy (as much as a youkai-seeing-and-controlling person can be.) I do want to try "Kiss Him, Not Me!" as the manga descriptions amused me.
I haven't seen all the episodes yet, but from what I have seen I really enjoyed Natsume Yuujinchou. (And who can forget the amazingly slashy episode 10 of the first season?)
I love fantasy and supernatural genres with youkai so I should really catch up on that.
I just started watching Yuri!! on ICE and fell in love with it! I don't actually know if it's going to be BL, (is it???) but it certainly toes the line a lot :D In any case, it's fun to watch, both for the figure skating, and for the characters :)
Also love Natsume Yuujinchou, so wonderful to have another season! \o/
