Ben-Hur 3D (2016) in 4DX

Anyone see the Ben-Hur remake this weekend? Apparently not because it was a massive bomb
I saw it on Sunday. In fact, paid an ultra-premium price of $28 to see it not just in 3D but in 3D 4DX.
What is 4DX?
You can see a partial demonstration in the top GIF of this post but you can view more here.
It's gimmicky as all get-out but it also makes something as schlocky as a 3D BEN-HUR remake sort of fun. And since I paid so much money, you bet your sweet ass I'm gonna write about the experience here!
Every time a character is riding a horse in this movie, your seat moves as if you were riding on a horse. As a person who has been on a horse in real life, I can say that the motion was fairly convincing, all things considered.
In a party scene where people danced, the chairs bounced as if dancing.
In a scene where we walked through a spice market, the exotic perfume of spices filled the air.
When it rained onscreen, I felt little drops of water falling on my arms.
I know it all sounds like madness but the entire experience augmented what would have otherwise been a tragically inadequate filmic specimen. In fact, I enjoyed it much more treating it as a 2-hour motion ride, than if I'd just been judging it purely on the film projected before us.
VERDICT: BEN-HUR 3D 4DX, lovely.
